Multi-Genre:
  • In college I completed a multi-genre project about the different "texts" that have impacted my life. For this project I created a PowerPoint using images, words, and videos. During the PowerPoint I read a poem that I wrote using George Ella Lyon's "Where I'm From" as a basis. Multi-genre projects are a great way for students to integrate multiple ways of expression. Multi-genre can include only writing or can include writing, art, sculpture, drama, etc.

Fishbowl:
  • The fishbowl strategy is a great way to integrate writing, speaking, and observing. In my classroom while I student teach I want to implement the fishbowl as a way for students to discuss issues we will be going over during our unit on argument. Ultimately I want to teach the necessary skills for the students to participate in a debate. The fishbowl will be a good way to teach these skills.
