Team Structures:
Teachers at my student teaching site work in teams. This is an ideal set up for teacher collaboration. Teachers meet daily with teachers from multiple disciplines. My teaching team consists of two math teachers, two language arts teachers, one science teacher, one social studies teacher, and one intervention specialist. Teachers also meet weekly with other teachers in their discipline.
Social networking:
I often use Twitter as a means to follow groups/individuals with valuable information of the education world. I follow groups like Edutopia, and individuals like Sarah Mulhern Gross, Lisa M., and tweenteacher. My knowledge of the educational world on Twitter is very limited, but I'm learning more about valuable ways to interact with great educators through Tweets.
I'm a member of KDP, and this gives me access to special educational tools. I do my best to keep up with the newsletters that are sent out weekly. There is always valuable information for all teachers (especially new ones). This month I am participating in a webinar about classroom management in middle school classrooms. I plan on continuing to take advantage of these opportunities to think about my current teaching and better my future teaching.
